The October European Council begins today, 17 October, as the Brexit negotiations reach a critical stage. Meetings between the UK Brexit Secretary Dominic Raab and EU Chief Negotiator, Michel Barnier, in recent days have failed to produce an agreed text for consideration by EU leaders, with the issue of the Irish backstop still outstanding. The issue now moves to the Council table.
Brexit Brief, published by the IIEA’s UK Project Group, covers developments in the on-going debate over the UK’s vote to Leave the European Union. It is part of a wider communications programme, which will be highlighted on the Institute’s website.
