The European Council Summit of 19-20 October 2017 concluded that insufficient progress had been made in the first phase of the UK’s withdrawal negotiations, and EU leaders were unable to recommend the opening of talks on future relations between the EU and the UK. The focus now moves to the sixth round of negotiations on November 9-10, and the subsequent European Council summit in December. Issue 28 of the IIEA Brexit Brief highlights the latest developments in the UK’s withdrawal negotiations, and collates reactions from the UK, EU and Ireland.
