In this timely address to the IIEA, which took place as the UK moves into the second phase of its EU withdrawal negotiations, Tony Connelly drew upon his 2017 book ‘Brexit and Ireland: The Dangers, the Opportunities, and the Inside Story of the Irish Response’ to provide an updated account of the current state of play in the UK’s withdrawal, and the Irish perspective on the negotiations.

Tony Connelly is a journalist and author. He is Europe Editor for RTÉ News and Current Affairs. He has written for numerous national and international news agencies and publications, including Time, United Press International and the Irish Independent. His first book Don’t Mention the Wars: A Journey Through European Stereotypes was published in 2009.
