The current development landscape is changing rapidly with new development actors, complex political environments, shifting dynamics and misconceptions about development co-operation. At the same time, the global development consensus based on The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, including the Addis Ababa Action Agenda has served as a game changer demanding increased partnership, whole-of-government approaches, increased financial flows and an increased focus on leaving no-one behind. In this lecture, DAC Chair Charlotte Petri Gornitzka discussed the reform of the DAC and its role within the global development co-operation architecture
About the Speaker:
Charlotte Petri Gornitzka was elected as the Chair of the OECD’s Development Assistance Committee in July 2016, taking up her position full time in October 2016. Prior to this, she served as Director-General of the Swedish International Development Co-operation Agency (SIDA). She has previously served as Secretary-General of Save the Children International (2008-2010) and Secretary-General of Save the Children Sweden (2003-2008). From 1998-2002, she served as Under Secretary-General and Director of Communications for the Swedish Red Cross.
Ms Petri Gornitzka serves as Co-chair of the World Economic Forum Global Future Council on International Governance, Public-Private Cooperation and Sustainable Development. She is also a Member of the Stewardship Board for Economic Growth and Social Inclusion as well as a Member of the 2030 Water Resources Group Governing Council.
