IIEA Senior Fellow, Joseph Curtin, presented to the Citizen’s Assembly on Saturday, 30 October 2017 on the topic of How Ireland Can Become a Leader on Climate Change.

In his address, he presented an overview of Ireland’s progress in the area of climate change within the context of its EU and UN obligations to reduce emissions. He emphasised the need for a narrative on climate change that is not exclusively focused on cost and sacrifice, but that is also focused on exploiting new technologies. He explored the vital role of engaging citizens and communities in climate change by opening up new investment opportunities, particularly in rural Ireland.
