About the speech:

In March 2016, the Chinese government finalised the 13th Five-Year Plan, which is the blueprint for China’s economic development between 2016 and 2020. It comes at a pivotal time, as China records its lowest level of economic growth in 25 years. The primary objective of the Plan is to support China’s transition from an economy based on high investment, exports and heavy industries, to a more sustainable model of economic development, focusing on consumption, innovation and the service sector.


About the speaker:

Minister Chen Baosheng is the Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Governance, which is responsible for training high-level civil servants and leaders of state-owned enterprises. He is also a member of the 18th Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, which is composed of senior CPC members. He previously held the role of Vice President of the Party School of the CPC Central Committee.
