Dublin Airport facilitates up to 1,800 flights per week by 47 airlines to 185 destinations in more than 40 countries on four continents. In April 2016, DAA announced its intention to progress with plans for a new runway at Dublin Airport. In his address, Kevin Toland discussed the potential of the new North Runway to enhance connectivity, competitiveness and growth. He outlined the challenges associated with delivering this major national infrastructure project. He also explained why Dublin Airport needs to retain operational flexibility and therefore why it is seeking to change two of the 31 planning conditions attached to the construction of the new runway.

About the Speaker:

Kevin Toland is Chief Executive of daa. Mr Toland joined daa in January 2013 from Glanbia, where he was CEO and President of Glanbia USA and Global Nutritionals from 2005 to 2012. Before joining Glanbia, he held a number of senior management positions with Coca-Cola Bottlers in Russia and with Grand Metropolitan in Ireland and Central Europe. He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Management Accountants and holds a Diploma in Applied Finance from the Irish Management Institute. He is also a Director of ACI Europe and the Irish business group IBEC, and a Non-Executive Director and Member of the Board of Total Produce.
