About the Speech:
China is the world’s largest energy consumer and producer and carbon dioxide emitter. This places it in a pivotal position in global efforts to transition to low-carbon energy. In his speech at the IIEA, Mr. Tu explored the energy and environmental challenges facing China and the need for global engagement with China to support the transition to low-carbon energy.
About the Speaker:
Kevin Tu is the China Program Manager at the International Energy Agency (IEA), where he leads the Agency’s effort to engage China in international energy governance. Between 2011 and 2013, he was the Director of the China Energy and Climate Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington D.C. From 2004 to 2011, he served as Senior Energy and Environmental Consultant for M.K. Jaccard and Associates in Vancouver. Before moving from China to Canada in 2001, he held senior positions in Sino-Benny LPG and Sinopec, a Chinese national petroleum company.
