About the Speech
In February 2015, the European Commission adopted “A Framework Strategy for a Resilient Energy Union with a Forward-Looking Climate Change Policy”. Under this strategy a European Energy Union will seek to ensure Europe enjoys a secure, affordable and climate-friendly energy supply. In her address to the Institute Ms. Worsdorfer discussed the progress made on achieving the vision of the Energy Union in Europe to date.
About The Speaker
Ms. Wörsdörfer is a Director at the European Commission’s Directorate General for Energy. She is in charge of general strategy and monitoring of energy policy, international relations and economic analysis. She was previously head of the unit responsible for the follow-up of the 2030 Framework for Energy and Climate, the Energy Roadmap 2050, and the quarterly reports on gas and electricity markets. Prior to joining DG Energy Ms. Wörsdörfer pursued a long career at DG Enterprise & Industry where she lead on the development of SME policy for growth and jobs and the “Small Business Act” for Europe. Between 1999 – 2004, she worked in the Cabinet of Erkki Liikanen, the European Commissioner for Enterprise Policy and Information Society.
