About the Speech:   According to Mr. Lamassoure, the Lisbon Treaty equipped the E.U. with a fresh, democratic and wide-ranging toolbox. However, a series of uninterrupted crises, from finance to migration, have put the E.U. under strain, arousing a rise in euroscepticism almost everywhere. Mr. Lamassoure will examine how the E.U. can adjust to these pressures while also touching on his work as Chair of the TAXE Committee.

About the Speaker:   Alain Lamassoure is a French politician and Member of the European Parliament for the South-West of France. He is a member of the Union for a Popular Movement, which is part of the European People’s Party. As well as his role as Chair of the Special Committee on Tax Rulings, he is a member of the Economic and Monetary Committee and a member of the delegation for relations with the countries of South Asia and the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation.
