About the Speech:   EU High Representative Federica Mogherini has said that the secret of success in Africa lies in triggering a virtuous circle in the development-security-migration nexus. This seminar, the first of its kind in Ireland, explored this theme as the foundation of defining a new era of EU-African Union engagement, and encouraged debate and views from practitioners and those working in the fields of foreign policy, development and security. Speakers assessed the current state of relations between the two organisations, identifying the successes and failures of the existing partnership areas.    About the Speakers:   Speakers at this event included: Michael Gaffey, Director General of Irish Aid, Irish Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade; Ajay Bramdeo, Permanent Representative of the African Union to the EU; Kristin de Peyron, Head of Division, Pan-African Affairs, EEAS; Aidan O’Hara, Permanent Representative of Ireland to the African Union; Cristina Barrios, Policy Advisor, Strategic Planning European External Action Service; and Tom Arnold, Director General of the IIEA.   A full programme for the seminar can be viewed or downloaded here.
