About the Speech
The keynote address at this seminar was delivered by Minister Aleksandar Pejovic, Minister for EU Affairs of Montenegro and chief negotiator for Montenegro’s accession to the EU. Montenegro is considered to be the closest of the candidate and potential candidates in the Western Balkans to achieving EU accession, and its new Prime Minister, Dusko Markovic, has pledged to push forward with the country’s attempts to gain membership of both the EU and NATO. This IIEA and DG NEAR seminar outlined Montenegro’s progress and prospects as it works towards EU accession.
Welcoming remarks at this event were provided by Tim Hayes, Head of Communications at the Commission Representation in Ireland.
About the Speaker
Minister Aleksandar Pejovic was appointed Minister for EU Affairs of Montenegro in November 2016, and is also chief negotiator for Montenegro’s accession to the EU. From 2010 to 2016, he has also served as the ambassador of Montenegro to the EU. Prior to that appointment, he was the Director of the Directorate for the European Union in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro.
