Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, Emilia Kraleva, will discuss the priorities of the current Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU, placing an emphasis on strengthening the links between the EU and the countries of the Western Balkans. In the immediate aftermath of the summit in Sofia on the Western Balkans, she will discuss the perspective for enlargement of the EU to the Western Balkans and the outcomes of the Sofia summit.
This event was open to the public as part of the IIEA’s Future of the EU27 Project, which is supported by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
About the Speaker:
Emilia Kraleva is the Deputy Foreign Minister of Bulgaria, and in this role supervises the Directorates for Political Affairs, European Affairs, European Union Policy and Common Foreign and Security Policy. In a foreign policy career which has spanned 30 years, she has served as Ambassador of Bulgaria to Greece, Director General for Political Affairs of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, and Political Affairs Counsellor at the Bulgarian Embassy in London. Deputy Minister Kraleva holds Masters in History from the University of Sofia, and spent time studying at the Clingendael Institute in The Hague, and the College of International and Security Studies in Germany.
