Ruairi Quinn, Chairperson of the IIEA, has today announced the appointment of Barry Andrews as the incoming IIEA Director General, effective from early April. Mr Andrews will replace Tom Arnold, whose three year term of office comes to a conclusion at the end of March.
In welcoming the appointment, Ruairi Quinn said ‘I believe Barry’s experience as Minister for Children, as a parliamentarian, and as Chief Executive of Goal, has provided him with political and administrative skills which will be of real value to the IIEA at this uniquely challenging time, when Brexit is at the heart of our work’.
In response, Barry Andrews said ‘I am delighted to have the opportunity to serve as the Director General of the IIEA, Ireland’s leading policy think tank, and to work closely with the Chair, Board and staff to further enhance the IIEA as a forum for the promotion of high quality political and public debate on issues of central importance to Ireland’s future’.
Thanking outgoing DG Tom Arnold, Ruairi Quinn said ‘Tom has made a major contribution to the IIEA since he assumed this position, building on his unique range of relationships at Irish, European and international level. We wish him well in his future endeavours’.
