The IIEA hosts the launch of a new book by Patrick Honohan, Currency, Credit and Crisis: Central Banking in Ireland and Europe. Professor Honohan draws on his experience as Governor of the Central Bank of Ireland from 2009-2015 to offer a detailed analysis of the origins of the global financial crisis and of national and international policy-makers’ conduct during its most fraught moments. In the book, Professor Honohan argues that with its diverse experience as one of the world’s most globalised economies, Ireland is an ideal case to study. Paschal Donohoe T.D., Minister for Finance & Public Expenditure and Reform, launches the book.
About the Speaker:
Patrick Honohan was Governor of the Central Bank of Ireland from 2009-2015. He is currently an Honorary Professor of Economics in Trinity College Dublin, a Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics and a CEPR Research Fellow. Previously he was a Senior Adviser in the World Bank, Economic Adviser to the Taoiseach and spent several years at the ESRI. He is a graduate of UCD and the London School of Economics, from which he received his PhD in 1978.
