In his address to the IIEA, Mr Črepinko outlines the role of the European Migrant Smuggling Centre, part of Europol’s European Serious Organised Crime Centre, whose main aim is to target, identify and dismantle criminal networks involved in migrant smuggling. Mr Črepinko discusses a new operational platform Joint Liaison Task Force on Migrant Smuggling (JLT-MS) launched in July 2019, which helps to improve the joint cross-border investigations and operations by EU member states and their associates. Additionally, Robert Crepinko informs the audience about emerging trends and successful operations in the field of organised crime and migrant smuggling.

About the Speaker:

Robert Črepinko is the Head of the European Migrant Smuggling Centre (EMSC) within the Operations Department at Europol. The EMSC is the European information hub for migrant smuggling and trafficking in human beings and provides both strategic and operational support to EU Member States efforts to tackle these forms of serious and organised crime. Previously, Mr Črepinko managed the Organised Crime Networks team, supporting the Member States activities against organised crime in key priorities including migrant smuggling, trafficking in human beings, organised property crime, drugs smuggling, mafia type organise crime and firearms trafficking.
