About the Speech:
In his address, Piotr Buras argued that Poland, once an example of successful democratisation and Europeanisation, is seen today by some in the EU as a country turning away from Europe and liberal democracy. In December 2017, the European Commission triggered Article 7 TEU, claiming that Warsaw is at risk of violating fundamental EU values. Mr Buras will explore the sources of Poland’s current attitude towards the EU and how the new Polish European policy will impact on relations with the country’s key partners.
