During his time at UNIFIL, Major General took a pro-active approach which enabled the mission to undertake its important mandate to restore international peace and security in the region. In his address to the IIEA, Major General Beary discusses Ireland’s significant contribution to regional stability and peace in light of its 60-year record of UN peacekeeping service.
About the Speaker:
Major General Beary has had a long and distinguished career since he was appointed as officer of the Infantry Corps in 1975. He has spent over a decade in overseas deployments in various countries, including Lebanon, Somalia, Iraq, Afghanistan and former Yugoslavia. Major General Beary has the distinction of experience as Force Commander of two international peacekeeping operations, which include the EU Training Mission in Somalia and the UN Interim Force in Lebanon.
