Sébastien Maire, Chief Officer for Ecological Transition and Resilience for the city of Paris, created the city’s resilience strategy after broad stakeholder consultation to address the city’s physical, social and economic challenges. He introduces the concept of urban and territorial resilience, illustrated by initiatives implemented within the 100 Resilient Cities network. His presentation focused on a number of initiatives in Paris and highlighted how this new vision of a more holistic public policy design and implementation is more efficient and relevant, both from a political and administrative perspective.
About the Speaker:
Sébastien Maire is the Chief Officer for Ecological Transition and Resilience for the city of Paris. Mr Maire is an expert in local authorities management and served as both Deputy Mayor of his town and administrative director in other French municipalities. Between 2008-2014, he served as the Mayor’s Chief of Staff for an important city in Paris’ suburbs. As the Chief Officer for Ecological Transition and Resilience and member of the 100 Resilient Cities network, Mr Maire built the city’s resilience strategy through multi-stakeholder consultation, which is now in implementation phase.
