About the Speech:
As part of the IIEA’s project on Ireland and the Future of the EU27, Ann Linde, Swedish Minister for EU Affairs and Trade, and Helen McEntee T.D., Irish Minister for European Affairs, addressed the Insitute to present their governments’ perspectives on the Future of the EU27 post Brexit. In their speeches, each Minister outlined the vision for the EU in their countries, and discussed areas of potential policy alignment betwen Ireland and like-minded countries, such as Sweden.
About the Speakers:
Ann Linde has served as Swedish Minister for European Union Affairs and Trade since May 2016. She is a memeber of the governing Social Democratic Party in Sweden and from 2014-2016 she held the position of State Secretary to the Minister for Home Affairs. Before her role in the current Swedish Government, she was the Head of the International Unit of the Party of European Socialists (PES) in Brussels.
Helen McEntee was appointed as Minister of State for European Affairs in June 2017, and has served as a Fine Gael TD for the Meath East constituency since March 2013. She was previosuly appointed Minister of State for Mental Health and Older People in May 2016.
