About the Speech:
Professor Tonra addressed the YPN on the topic of: “Trump, Brexit and the Collapse of Western Civilisation: A brief overview”. His presentation took a detailed look at the emerging geopolitical order, the challenges faced by the European Union – internal and external – and critically assess the Union’s capacity to meet those challenges and to situate itself in that new order.
About the Speaker:
Ben Tonra is Professor of International Relations at the UCD School of Politics and International Relations. In UCD he teaches, researches and publishes on European foreign, security and defence policy, Irish foreign and security policy and International Relations theory. Outside the university Ben has served as Chair of the Royal Irish Academy’s Standing Committee on International Affairs and is one of the Project Leaders at the IIEA on EU security and defence.
