In his address to the IIEA, Director General LI Yong discusses UNIDO’s mandate of inclusive and sustainable industrial development in the context of the 2030 Agenda and Ireland’s new Development Policy, A Better World. The Director General addresses the challenges and opportunities which lie ahead for the international development community and Ireland’s significant contribution to global industrial development.

About the Speaker:

LI Yong was appointed Director General of United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) in June 2013. Prior to this, Mr LI had an extensive career as a senior economic and financial policy-maker including; Vice‐Minister of Finance of the People’s Republic of China and member of the Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank for over a decade. He played a key role in China’s cooperation with multilateral development organisations, such as the World Bank Group and the Asian Development Bank.
