The Future of Eurozone Governance
Jeroen Dijsselbloem, President of the Eurogroup

Ahead of his lunchtime talk, Jeroen Dijsselbloem said: “I will discuss what went wrong before the economic and financial crisis of 2008, the reaction of the Eurozone and what is needed economically and financially to get sustainable growth in the future.”
He added: “Finishing the banking union and capital markets union and further developing the role of the European Stability Mechanism are key factors for the short term.”
About the Speech:
The Eurozone crisis brought to light fundamental flaws in the architecture of the single currency and highlighted the need for essential reforms, such as the Banking Union. President Dijsselbloem will discuss the lessons learned from this period, and he will offer his ideas for the future of Eurozone governance.

About the Speaker:
Jeroen Dijsselbloem was elected President of the Eurogroup for a second term on 13 July 2015 by the euro area finance ministers. President Dijsselbloem is the second person to hold the post since the Eurogroup was founded. He is also the outgoing Minister of Finance of the Netherlands and since February 2013 he has served as Chair of the Board of Governors of the European Stability Mechanism.
