Kristian Ruby argued that decisive action on climate change is needed to meet the goals set by the Paris agreement and that this requires a major shift to electricity in transport, buildings and industry in the EU. He discussed the role that electricity can play in decarbonising the transport sector and the technologies that are available to shift industry to carbon-free electricity. Mr Ruby argued that a recent study by EURELECTRIC sheds light on promising pathways – but that deep decarbonisation will require unprecedented efforts.
