About the Speech:
In 2016, the German government published its White Paper on Defence Policy, which set out the new concepts underlying German security and defence policy. Since then, the international security environment has become more volatile, and proposals for increased bilateral cooperation on defence policy between the UK and France and the UK and Germany coincide with proposals at EU level for enhanced cooperation in European Security and Defence Policy. The German Parliamentary State Secretary, Dr Brauksiepe, outlined Germany’s perspective on how to meet the current and future challenges and how to deal with their consequences at the international, European and national level.
