About the Speech:

Slovakia will hold the Presidency of the Council of the EU at a challenging time for Europe. H.E. Dušan Matulay examined the policy priorities of the Slovak presidency, including Energy Union and implementation of the COP21 agreement, the development of Economic and Monetary Union, the Digital Single Market and international trade agreements, such as TTIP.  Key areas of concern, including the migration crisis and implications of the forthcoming British EU Referendum vote, were also discussed.

About the Speaker:

His Excellency Dušan Matulay, Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to Ireland began his diplomatic career in 1992 when he joined the Slovak Embassy in Germany. He has served as Deputy Head of Mission at the Slovak Embassy in Russia (1998 – 2002), and Deputy Permanent Representative of Slovakia to the United Nations (2005). He also served as Chef de Cabinet of the State Secretary in Slovakia (2002). Before his appointment as Ambassador to Ireland in 2013, H.E. Matulay served as Director General of Foreign and European Affairs Division at the Chancellery of the National Council in Slovakia from 2011 to 2013.
