In this briefing, as part of the IIEA’s 30th Anniversary Celebration, Fergus Finlay examines the milestones along the way to reaching the historic Good Friday Agreement in 1998. From the Sunningdale Agreement to the Downing Street Declaration, through to the Good Friday Agreement itself, he charts the course which led to peace on the island of Ireland.

Fergus Finlay served as advisor to then-Tanáiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dick Spring, from 1994-1997. He is a weekly columnist with the Irish Examiner and previously served as CEO of Barnados.
