The Sahel region is affected by a complex set of political, security and development issues, which together have increased migratory pressures and contributed to a worsening humanitarian situation. In his keynote address, Ángel Losada Fernandez will discuss the complex challenges currently facing the Sahel, and the role the EU can play in this strategically important region.
About the Speaker:
Ambassador Losada Fernandez was appointed EU Special Representative for the Sahel in 2015 after serving as Ambassdaor of Spain for the Sahel, for the Gulf states, Nigeria and the Republic of Benin. Ambassador Losada Fernandez also worked as an international civil servant in NATO, in the Human Rights Division of the UN and in the ILO. He holds a degree in Law from the University of Navarra and a diploma in International Law from the City of London Polytechnic School.
