About the Speech:
Patricia O’Brien argued that the rule of law at the international level and human rights are more important and more vulnerable than ever. Widespread conflicts, global economic turmoil, overwhelming movements of refugees and migrants, climate change, environmental disasters, rising joblessness and growing inequality between rich and poor are now realities to be confronted. She examined these challenges through the prism of human rights and the rule of law and explored Ireland’s contribution to human rights worldwide, including its recent term of membership at the Human Rights Council.
