This Young Professionals’ Network event was part of the IIEA project on the Future of the EU27, which is being supported by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. First, Ms Creighton outlined some of her views on the future of the EU, and Ireland’s place therein. Following her remarks, there was a group discussion, during which audience members put forward their views on the EU to Ms Creighton, and to each other.
About the Speaker:
Lucinda Creighton is a Former Minister for European Affairs and T.D. In her role as Minister, she represented Ireland in key negotiations on the country’s EU/IMF bailout. During Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the EU, she played a significant role in agreeing key policies on the EU banking union and economic governance of the EU. She also served as Vice President of the European People’s Party. In 2016 she founded Vulcan Consulting, a public affairs consultancy which advises clients on all aspects of EU policy, regulation and political risk.
